Algebra is not required for a college education. (A-Z Blogging Challenge)

One of my favorite things I learned in college is that math is not necessary for a college education.  I went to Ozark Christian College in Joplin, Missouri, and when I was a student there, they had no math classes.  It was a regular joke that people went to the school in order to avoid math classes.

Of course, that wasn't the real reason, but it sure was a nice bonus!  I wasn't terrible at math going through school, but I wasn't great at it either, particularly after I started junior high.  I took a trigonometry class my senior year (what was I thinking?), and by the end of it, I was more than happy to not have to take another math class again!

What was your favorite class in college?  What was your least favorite?  And what class are you most glad that you didn't take?

Come back tomorrow for a brief discussion on bronze statues.

Well, I certainly went to the wrong college! (By the way, I can practically throw a rock and hit OCC from my house, or at the very least, I can SEE it out my bedroom window, anyway...)

My son is struggling with Calculus II at Missouri State and dropped it last night because he was getting a B. A B! I don't even know what Calculus means!

  4. Dyanne, I've been reading your blog and LOVING hearing about home. :-) Growing up I always assumed I would go to MSSU and didn't decide on Ozark till my senior year of high school. :-)

And I have to say, a B in any math class is worth celebrating, not a reason to drop! LOL.

  5. I majored in linguistics and my favorite class was English linguistics. My least favorite was P.E., which was a required subject. I am most glad that I didn't take the course in the German language. Instead, I took Spanish, which I liked very much.

  6. Romi, I had to take a class called lifetime wellness that required so many minutes of exercise each week. It was the only class I was worried I wouldn't pass in college. :-) I can't imagine taking German unless I had plans to move to Germany.
