Shelly
Hendricks
is
a wife and mother of 2 amazing kids. She was a teacher and a
librarian in another life. She also suffers from Intracranial
Hypertension
and Essential Tremor, among
a myriad of other issues mostly stemming from these two.
She had brain surgery in 2012, to
install a VP Shunt, and
had a revision in January of this year. She
now considers herself to be a ‘bionic woman’ who is learning to
walk again. Disability has been hard to deal with, but she depends on
God for all strength and hopes to encourage others on this journey,
through her blog at http://reneweddaily.com
And
if a town refuses to welcome you, shake its dust from your feet as
you leave to show that you have abandoned those people to their fate.
- Luke 9:5
We
are called to bring the message. Our feet are dusty from the roads
we've traveled to do it. Actual roads. Figurative roads. Cyber ones.
Once
the message is delivered, our job is done. Besides prayer, what more
can we do?
Are
you discouraged by negative comments? Are you baited into fighting
with those who would pull us off course?
If
you're wondering what to do now... if it's time to quit... take a
look at advice straight from the Master's lips.
And
if they're not welcoming you, just remember that it's not really you
they're rejecting.
For
God has not called us for the purpose of impurity, but in
sanctification.
So, he who rejects this is not rejecting man but the
God who gives His Holy Spirit to you. - 1 Thessalonians 4:7-8
May
God shore up your spirit as you continue to walk with Him. May He
give you more opportunity to shine your light in the way that only
you can. May He grant you grace and mercy on the discouraging days.
Shake
off the dust from your weary feet. And then gather more.
Lord,
help us to go on walking in Your light, shining the good news of You
into all dark places. Help us never to let the darkness discourage
us, as if we expected to find none. In Jesus' Name, Amen...

Thank you, Shelley for more encouraging words and the reminder that God will give us strength for the journey. Thanks for being such a blessing to so many!
ReplyDeleteI've had to shake the dust from my feet and move on a time or two....you can tell when you're utterly wasting your time.......
ReplyDeleteYesterday at the funeral I stood alone in bringing the Christian message...the nice little Welshman leading the service lost his faith long ago...so I prayed that God's Word would bring men to repentance...and at the end of the service this man committed Frank to 'YOUR" God.....I will not be having any further dealings with him but as I left shook the dust from my feet and moved on to where God has placed me as He has given that man many opportunities and he has chosen NOT to believe...so sad thought Shelly!!
This is something we don't tend to talk about much, but is so very important. We are called to do what our Lord asks, and the rest is in His hands. The shaking of the dust off our feet is getting rid of the burden that was never ours in the first place, and trusting God with it all. How can we carry on, if we are still struggling with the footprints in our minds dragging us down? It's time to shake it off and follow our Shepherd.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Shelly.
You put that so beautifully, Anita! The burden was never ours. Sometimes we want it to be. Love you. Heart Hugs, Shelly <3
