The Truth About the Lordship of Christ (book review)

I've been reading a new book, and I really want to tell you about it so you can check it out for yourself.

The Truth About the Lordship of Christby John MacArthur may be a small book, but reading and digesting the words inside is not easy.  MacArthur didn't hold anything back.  To read this book is to come face-to-face with what you lack.  It has had me thinking and looking at my own life and my commitment to Christ.

On page 41, he says, "The love of Christ has to overrule both the powerful appeal of family love and the more powerful instinct of self-preservation."

On page 31, he says, "Submission to that absolute authority of Christ is not an option-it is your supreme obligation."

Thankfully, he does remind us on page 39 that it is Jesus that gives us our righteousness.  It is a welcome reminder in the midst of harsh truth.  "There is the genuine, perfect righteousness of Christ that is imputed to each believer, and there is a false righteousness of men.  And unless you have the real thing, you'll not enter the kingdom."

The book is fantastic for anyone looking for a recharge in their commitment to Christ and the kingdom.  It is hard to read MacArthur's words and not want to get up and do something.

One Response to The Truth About the Lordship of Christ (book review)

  1. "our actions should be an outgrowth of our encounters with God and evidence of our daily relationship with Him." These words convicted me -- and I will be writing them down to contemplate this week.
